Designed for youth educators, Jewish organizational professionals, and lay leaders, the Honeycomb Facilitator Training gives you the skills and resources to strengthen your youth philanthropy program or help you launch a new one!

This unique two-day professional development opportunity focuses on Jewish experiential education, youth empowerment, and community engagement.

Participants will experience a skills-based, interactive training on all things youth philanthropy, receive curriculum and related resources, and have opportunities to network and learn from experts in the field.

Dates: November 5-6, 2025

Location: New York City (Midtown)

Cost: Register before Friday August 15 to purchase your ticket at last year's price: $450. Regular registration price: $495 (includes all programming, activities, quality tools, resources, materials, dinner on Nov 5, breakfast and lunch on Nov 6, and plentiful snacks for both days.)

The true cost of the Facilitator Training is $1,500 per participant. Thanks to our generous supporters, Honeycomb is able to provide tickets at the subsidies rates listed above.

Who is the training designed for?

The training is a specially-designed with in-depth workshops for leaders of Jewish youth philanthropy programs, as well as for Jewish educators, professionals and lay leaders from the wider field of Jewish youth programming and engagement.
I don't have a youth philanthropy program. Can I still attend?

Absolutely! Whether you are interested in starting a new program, expanding your existing program or learning about best practices in facilitation, philanthropy and Jewish youth engagement —all are welcome!
Do I need to come for both days of the training?

Yes - you must attend both days of the facilitator training. The training is an immersive, cohort-learning experience and each workshop follows on material directly from the previous session, thus the convening needs to be attended in its entirety. Please contact Honeycomb's Program and Education Director, Laura Hemlock-Schaeffer with any specific concerns.
What does the cost of the training include?

The Early Bird Rate for the Honeycomb Facilitator Training is $450 per participant. This includes all programming, activities, quality tools, resources, materials, dinner (on Nov 5), breakfast and lunch (Nov 6), and plentiful snacks for both days. The price does NOT include your travel or accommodation (however we will have a room block at a nearby hotel available at a discounted rate).

What if I need financial assistance to attend the training?

A limited number of subsidies are available to help offset the price of participation for organizations where cost may be a barrier. Please fill out this form to apply for a subsidy. For any further questions, contact Danielle Segal .
Is there a dress code for this event?

Nope! Please feel free to wear anything that you feel comfortable in. Pro tip: we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes if you would like to explore all that New York City has to offer!
Can my organization become a sponsor of the training?

Yes! We have different levels of sponsorship available. Please contact Honeycomb’s Executive Director, Danielle Segal and we would be happy to discuss.
Is there a hotel room block available?

We will be offering the option to stay in a room block at a nearby hotel. We will be releasing the details of pricing very soon. Please note that you do not have to stay in the designated room block - you may choose your own accomodation.

Executive Director, Honeycomb

Danielle Segal

Danielle Segal is the Program Director at the Honeycomb. Danielle is from London, United Kingdom, and moved to New York in 2010. Inspired by her love of the Jewish community and combining her teaching, program management and theater skills, Danielle has worked in the non-profit Jewish field for fifteen years as a Jewish educator, camp director and non-profit manager. She has developed several curricula, including teen leadership courses, and has led workshops on teacher training, team management and improvisation. Danielle presents at conferences and seminars nationwide about Jewish youth philanthropy, experiential education and teen engagement. She was awarded the Jack Petchey Award for Outstanding Service to Young People in 2009. Danielle is Vice Chair of the JPRO NY Board and serves on the Board Of Directors for Tkiya. She presents and produces the Honeycomb podcast “Outside The Tzedakah Box”. Danielle completed the Certificate in Jewish Leadership For Educators with Spertus Institute and Northwestern University.

Sarah Ruderman

Previous to joining the Honeycomb team, Sarah most recently served as the Director of Professional Learning at the Paradigm Project and as the Director of Organizational Partnerships at PJ Library, part of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. Sarah has a background as an educator with expertise in child development, literacy, facilitation, and adult and family engagement. Earlier in her career, Sarah was the Jewish Educator at the JCCs of Greater Boston. In addition, Sarah has written for many online and print publications, including The Forward, JewishBoston.com, the Covenant Foundation’s SightLine, Parenting Through a Jewish Lens, 18Doors.com, and others; about Jewish Education, Jewish food, holidays, values, and parenting. Sarah is currently a Vice President of the Board of Trustees at Temple Shalom of Newton and the Treasurer of the Masstars. She has an undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College in Musical Theater Performance and studied in the M.A.R.E. program at HUC-JIR. Sarah lives outside of Boston with her spouse, two children, and a dog, Bowie.
