LAunchpad: The Los Angeles Synagogue Incubator for Youth Philanthropy is an initiative by Honeycomb, funded by the Ziering Family Foundation, which will launch high quality Jewish youth philanthropy programs in Los Angeles area synagogues. This program engages Jewish youth in Los Angeles in life-changing experiences of philanthropy and community connection that shape and strengthen Jewish values and identity, leadership skills and changemaking abilities.

The 4 chosen synagogues for this Incubator will have the opportunity to benefit from Jewish youth philanthropy’s incredible impact of: strengthening young people’s connections to Jewish life, identity building, values-based community engagement, and a lasting commitment and skill set to impact the wider Los Angeles community and change the world. Honeycomb will work closely with each synagogue and their staff, providing educational curriculum, resources and training to elevate and develop their philanthropy programming and ensuring strong bonds with the Los Angeles Jewish and wider community.

Accepted synagogues will receive $17,500 in order to fund the operational costs of running the Jewish youth philanthropy program. In addition, each synagogue will receive up to $2,000 as a fundraising match incentive to go towards the grantmaking pool that the participants are responsible for allocating.

The original grant is generously funded by the Ziering Family Foundation and the additional grant money provided by the Los Angeles Jewish Teen Initiative powered by the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and the Jim Joseph Foundation, with seed funding provided by the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles. The synagogue needs to provide $2,500 in order to maintain the program in its first year and demonstrate a commitment to financially and programmatically support the program after the initial seed funding has ended. Synagogues can apply for LAunchpad as a single entity or in partnership with another synagogue.

If you are a representative from a Los Angeles area synagogue and interested in applying, view the application packet here. Applications are due by May 19, 2022.
